Bryce Across America - Philadelphia
Greetings from Philadelphia. We spent a couple of days
in the City of Brotherly Love seeing the sights and
catching a couple of Phillies games.
Hello everyone, welcome to Citizens Bank Ballpark. I'm
Mike Gilliam along with my sidekick Bryce bringing the
action from the top row of the upper deck.
We patronized Ralph's Italian Restaurant
but not necessarily to patronize Pop
(although we will take credit for it in this
space). Ralph's is actually the second
oldest Italian restaurant in the country,
operating since the 1800s.
Bryce agreed with his daddy that Ralph's Italian Restaurant
makes an excellent lasagna. . . .but not as good as Mama Nan's.
At the American Philosophical Society, established in
1743 by Benjamin Franklin, Bryce and his dad engaged
in a time-honored practice called Quodlibets. For the
unitiated, Quodlibets is a philosophical debate between
two parties -- usually a teacher and his student -- which
dates back thousands of years but popularly advanced
in the late 20th century by West Tennessee philosopher
Louis Mauldin. With a peculiar tilt of their respective
heads, Mike and Bryce debate how Ben Franklin amassed
his fortune: being frugal or grossly marking up the merchandise
at his chain of Five and Dime Stores. What is not debatable
is that Franklin once wrote that "Beer is proof that God
loves us and wants us to be happy." This quote did not
come from Scott Gilliam as once thought.
Our hotel was in the refurbished Reading Station which
was the train station for the old Reading Railroad of Monopoly
fame.
Pop has a better picture
Pop was the one with the camera and is a little late.

A Fortnight of Photos
Bryce is so fond of his baseball batting helmet that he
wanted to eat breakfast with it on . . . or perhaps it is a
precautionary move in case the house started settling.
