Flying out of Nashville today was truly an experience that begs to be shared. With the weekend conclusion of Bonnaroo and the Country Music Fan Fair -- musically polar opposites -- their respective pilgrims started returning home . . . and I was caught in the cross hairs of this mass exodus. The differences between the two groups were comical. It was Red State vs. Blue States, Electric Guitar vs. Steel Guitar, Widespread Panic vs. Cowboy Troy.

In an hour or so of observation and rumination, here are a few differences that I encountered or perceived between the Fan Fairies and the Bonnarooritans:

Apparel:
Bonnarooritans - T-Shirts, shorts, sandals
Fan Fairies - Lots of Polyester

Festival Coiffure:
Fan Fairies - Big, chemically-treated, hair
Bonnarooritans - Unwashed hair

Head Gear:
Bonnarooritans - Tattered baseball hat
Fan Fairies - Autographed cowboy hat

Smoker's Choice:
Fan Fairies - Eve 100s
Bonnarooritans - Cannabis

Drug of Choice:
Bonnarooritans - Ritalin
Fan Fairies - Premarin

Drink in Hand:
Fan Fairies - Sweet Tea
Bonnarooritans - Bud Lite
